Word Choice in Persuasive Writing
The words that you choose when you are writing a persuasive argument can make a HUGE difference to how well you piece of writing does its job...ie persuade someone!
Have a look at the two articles below. Ignoring the fact that one is ALOT prettier than the other. They are both talking about the same thing. However the one on the right does a significantly better job due to the words that the author has chosen to use. The have been chose specifically to evoke emotions and the article does a brilliant job.

To really take your text to the next level, you need to remember to make specific vocabulary choices which are going to convince us (your teachers) why you will / will not be a good member of the Student Council.
Remember every good argument will present both sides...DO NOT FORGET YOUR REBUTTAL! You may think you will be the best Student Councillor ever, but you need to show us that you do recognise that there are certain things that you need to work harder at, and recognising these shows maturity and sophistication!
