Below are the steps which you are required to follow:
- Ensure you have completed a self assessment, and one of your peers has completed the assessment.
- Have a look at your story starter. We have looked at many different ways that you can begin a narrative, is yours interesting and engaging? Change if you need to.
- You are to select five different colours (I would prefer highlighters, if not texta or pencil is fine) and in one colour you are to highlight / underline all the nouns. In another colour you are to identify all the verbs. The third colour should locate all adjectives, the fourth colour all adverbs. The final colour should be used to highlight any descriptive language.
- Create a MindNode. Your stories title should be at the centre, and the five main nodes should be nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs and descriptive language. You are required to read through your text and place all nouns in the right category ect. You must then look at all of your nouns..did you use an adjective to describe it? No, add one! Look at all of your verbs...did you use an adverb to describe it? No, add one! Descriptive language...you are in Year Six and Seven...you must be using descriptive language! Add some!
- Have a look at your word choice. Have you described something as pretty, ugly or nice? I am sure you can use a better word than that. Have you repeated some words quite often, see what you can change.
- You are now ready to publish. Refer back to the marking guide (as this is what I will use to assess your final product) and see what other corrections you need to make. If you are stuck on something or need a hand, please come and see me!
- Have FUN!!
